Oskar used to be Marco's best friend. His everything. His sunshine yellow. But that was before. Before Marco stopped being a hot jock. Before he learned to live with scars and pain. And before Oskar tore their friendship apart. Now the boy next door has returned home, determined to rekindle his friendship with Marco, and Marco's more afraid than ever. Afraid of getting hurt. Afraid of being humiliated. Afraid of falling in love. Can Oskar find a way through Marco's fear, back into his heart? "True Colors" is an enemies to lovers, boy next door, first time, slow burn M/M romance with a generous helping of UST. This no-cliffhanger, HEA book can be read as a standalone.… (altro)

The plot wasn't all that original, but I didn't really pick this book up for a spectacular plot, if you know what I'm saying. I pick up an Anyta Sunday book when I feel like reading a well-written book about love and family. I also like her common theme of "enemies to lovers" because I'm trash for that trope.

I think my favorite thing about this book was Marco's Papa, though. If all parents were like him, the world would have a lot less shitty people in it. ( )

This book had so much potential but it wasted it all for nothing. Ok, first off the author is Anyta Sunday reigning Angst Queen. In the past she has made me feel some things. Too many things to be honest. In Rock (or was it nest? I read those 2 back to back. They were my second and third M/M's actually and I get them mixed up) one of the MC's brings another guy home on Christmas break and I felt more betrayed than the other MC did. I was so angry I had to put the book down and spent the next hour making my partner listen to an angry rant about what that character did to me. To us. To his step brother actually.

While reading those two other books I felt a deep longing and I could actually feel myself getting depressed. I don't get depressed. For my own mental health I had to take a Anyta Sunday break.

After a few months of reading back to back to back male male romance I was a stronger less naive reader and I felt strong enough to throw myself into another one of this authors books so I picked up "True Colors".

It started out good. Very good. She was settings things up masterfully. These two MC's had a past that was very meaningful but ended quite badly. Something happened and it was bad. The rising tension was building up to something that promised to be explosive when these two saw each other again. In terms of set up she had mother fucking set it up.

And then... Meh. In like a lion out like a lamb. It was the romantic equivalent of the month of March (I think that saying was about March). Very anti climatic in my opinion. The horrible event in the past didn't live up to all the hype. It just wasn't as horrible as it was made out to be. Also, there wasn't much confrontation about said event after it happened. And the explosive reunion felt more like a dud to me. I was disappointed.

Adding to this were a couple of meaningless side plots that went absolutely nowhere and served zero purpose for even existing.

To me it felt like halfway through writing this book something happened and the author no longer cared and just wanted it to be done or a deadline was approaching or something because it just didn't become the great book I hoped it would be.

Sadly disappointing

Rock and Nest were 2 of my first M/M books and they were so good. Extremely angsty, like they literally effected my mood. I was so angry at one of the leads at one point i couldn't stand it and i was pissed off all day. I took a break from her books because that was bananas. Really that just speaks to the power of Anyto's writing and problems with my own mental health.

I was kind of hoping for more of the same with this book. At first it looked like i was going to get it. The book started out great and the buildup to Oscar and Marcos confrontation was stressful.

But then it just fizzled out for me. Oscar was basically perfect and what he did a long ago needed to be much worse for it to have caused all the damage that it did

The book just didn't feel quite planned out. There was a subplot between 2 minor characters that went nowhere . It felt like a lot of setup with a pretty weak payoff. Read "Rock" and "Nest" by this same author if you like your romance Angsty with a capitol A, but i would pass on this. ( )

A great story that left me with a warm feeling. I love those enemies to lovers stories.

I read True Luck when it was called Bottle Boys. I just checked my review to find this was the last line...
what was going on with Marco?
Well, I guess I'm about to find out.

Just lovely. It broke my heart in places. ( )
