It's 1888 and Bertha Benz's husband, Karl, has invented the prototype Benz motorwagen. But the German government declares the vehicle illegal, and the church calls it the devil's work. This episode in the life of Bertha Benz is a great story. The true facts listed during the story and at the end of the book are fascinating. I never knew a car could go 119 mph in 1928 until now. I also never imagined that the German government and religions would be opposed to people being able to go wherever they wanted when they wanted. (
