Brain Damage. Freida McFadden. 2016. The most interesting thing about this novel was learning how difficult it is physically, mentally, and emotionally to recover from a brain injury. The protagonist is a dermatologist who has been shot in the head. We are led through her rehab and told what happened before she was shot in flashbacks. The plot is so-so and we know immediately who shot her, but we watch her recovery and her realization of who caused her injury. ( )

REVIEW: Insightful story of the struggle to recover from debilitating brain injuries. Dr. Charly McKenna overcomes almost insurmountable odds to find a love that is true and a would-be murderer most vile. It was a fascinating book, well-written and quite worth the time to read it.
