Note: I accessed digital review copies of this book through Edelweiss and NetGalley. This is my new favorite book! The baby goats are ridiculously adorable, and the fact that it's a true story makes it all the more enjoyable. I truly yearn to visit the 'Goats of Anarchy' farm. Looking at the cover, I never would have imagined that the duck costume was part of a real life situation. Now I have baby goat-itis. Fortunately, our friends who live in Lafitte just got two! This book is the first book from Goats of Anarchy: a charity for farm animals (primarily goats) who have been rescued for various reasons. This is a true story of Polly, a blind goat who was comforted when wrapped in a blanket. By accident, Leanne Lauracella (the owner of the farm), found out that Polly's anxiety was reduced when she was wearing the duck costume she bought her for Hallowe'en. Apparently this has been all over Facebook and Instagram, but I have never seen it. As Polly becomes more comfortable in her new home, she meets a friend Pippa, another rescued goat. This is a great story about friendship, responsibility and respect to animals, as well as the rewards and successes of animal rescue. The story is simplified for children. As another reviewer mentioned, the illustrations are wonderful. They do remind me of The Little Golden Books I read as a child. At the end of the book are actual photos of Polly and her friends as well as a short explanation of the farm and Polly's difficulties. If you love animals, want to support animal rescue or introduce children to the plight of animals with problems, then read this book. A great addition to any library, family, public or school. I will watch for more books from GOA. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. This adorable and heart-warming picture book tells the true story of a blind and anxious goat who found a forever home at a goat rescue farm. Her new "mom" buys her a duck costume that calms her anxiety and eventually she makes such good friends with other goats that she no longer even needs her costume. The illustrations are rather flat but the bright colors allow them to still be rather lively; they also have a bit of vintage feel, as if this book would fit in just fine with some classic Golden Books. A short note at the back of the book tells some more about Polly the goat and shows photographs of her and the other goats on the farm. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
