Fifo 50 States is a colorful reference-like geography book, where Fifo discovers the wonders each state has to offer. He learns along the way each state's capital, shape, flag, motto, and much, much more. In this delightful rhyming story, Fifo, a warm and lovable brown bear, is bitten by the travel bug. Fifo dreams of digging up diamonds in Arkansas, looking for fossils in Kansas, enjoying a delicious bowl of gumbo in Louisiana, and even seeing a Broadway show in New York. Yes, America is an exciting place! The possibilities are endless, so come along with Fifo and you'll soon discover the beauty of America one state to another. This book is not necessarily a book you want to read straight through.  Fifo 50 States is best enjoyed a few pages at a time, where you can discover what makes each state unique. Fifo the Bear books are books meant to be read to your children, taking each page at a time and having a fun, interactive discussion to promote bonding and enhance the learning experience.… (altro)

Fifo is a bear who loves to explore! He is going to travel to each of the 50 states and help you learn a little bit about each one.

Fifo Fifty States is a book of poems that goes alphabetically through the states. Each poem tells you about the states capital and official flower, tree and bird. The pictures and fun and vibrant and filled with everything the poem talked about as well as some additional landmarks and customs for each state. The illustrations also have a small map pointing out the location of the state capital.

This is not a book to try to read all at once since the poems are fairly repetitive, but rather to take state by state as you explore. This is a great learning tool for 6-10 year olds as they begin to learn about the United States. I would read one or two poems at a time as a jumping point to begin discovering what each state has to offer.

My one complaint was in the illustration for my home state, New York. In the poem, the state capitol is correctly named as Albany; however, on the map it shows that the capital is in New York City. Albany is nowhere near New York City, and it is always a misconception that New York's capital is New York City, this illustration does not help. Anyway, I browsed the rest of the capital pictures and they seemed correct.

This book was received for free in return for an honest review. ( )

Fifo is a brown bear who dreams about visiting all 50 states and learn all he can about them!

Our friend. Fifo, is travelling all around the country, from one state to the other in alphabetical order. Every page is about a state and there is a really nice picture too!

Through this lovely journey, children get to learn a few things about each state in a rhythm! There is the state name and the capital and its numbering too! There is also the state flower, tree and bird in that little poem! In the bottom of the page, our little friends can read the state’s motto!!!

On the other page, that hosts a picture about the state, there is always Fifo, doing what somebody would do in that state, like surfing in Hawaii or canoeing in Idaho! All the nice things that are part of the poem are visible in the picture too! As well as the state map is drawn somewhere highlighted with the state initials! There is also a bit of the state’s history hidden in there along with any kind of activities or festivities that make the state known! One can also see the crops, orchards or animals to be found in the state, which is very nice for the children to see!

The illustration is done by Jesse B. Orlet and is really enjoyable! The lovely bear, the beautiful state scenes, the animals, birds and nature represent each state quite lovely! ( )

Younger readers will enjoy this book. Learning about all of the 50 states. While, reading this book, readers will also learn some history about each state as well like what number each state is as well as the capital, the state flower, state tree, and state bird. To go along with each state is a nice illustration depicting something fun about each state. You can't help but want to learn more and maybe take a road trip to visit all 50 states. A good book that will have young readers entertained with facts. ( )

Fifo "50 States" is an extremely informative book for all ages. Fifo the bear takes the reader on a journey through the United States explaining a little about each state as he travels along. While the book is geared towards the younger generation, unless you know everything there is to know about each individual state, then I'm positive you will find something in this delightful book.

The book lists each state in alphabetical order and with rhyming prose Fifo teaches you the state's capital, it's flower, national tree, bird as well as, the numerical listing of each state as they joined the constitution. The pages are wonderfully illustrated with other facts drawn throughout, things like what a state is "famous" for, the export of the states industries and much more. Did you know that Kentucky was the 15th state?? South Dakota's national tree is the Black Hills Spruce or how the Mockingbird is Tennessee's state bird?? With so many interesting tidbits to share and explore, the children will enjoy talking about the things they find throughout the pages.

This is a very interesting book that my children quite enjoyed, we are Canadians and we learned so much from it. I would suggest home-school families pick a copy of this up and add it to their reference shelves, as well, school/public libraries would also benefit. I would love to see Fifo take us around the world, or to other countries and teach us more about the things we don't know and should. My children thank you Fifo for being such a wonderful tour guide, we look forward to more of your adventures. ( )
