Do we ever learn that violence , will only lead to violence and will only make matters worse. Violence is only used when one side or both sides do not want to use words anymore. This beautiful book talks about the story of a boy named Edi who was living with his family , but due to not only violence but also ethnic cleansing , the boy and his family had no choice but to flee for safety and live in a refugee camp. Having family members who are refugees It is really an eye opening to the reader on how many people silently suffer and how many people are blessed not to go through this terrible experience. ( ) This photo essay explaining the journey of a Kosovo family from their home to refugee camp and beyond is eye opening. It shows a family who struggle to keep their loved ones together despite the hardships, and uses conversations with the members of the family to explain their plight. Most of the information is a result of talking with the family's son, and through his eyes the experiences of the refugee camp are shown to the reader. It packs an emotional punch as many people never consider the realities that refugees face even today. Twelve year old Edi and his family are forced to leave their home in Kossovo when Serbs start their program of ethnic cleansing. Trish Marx invokes the terror of fleeing one's home under threat of death as well as the stress and boredom of life in a refugee camp, and Cindy Karp's photographs compliment the text. The introductory description of the cause of the conflict might leave some young readers confused. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
