( ) Catawampus Cat meanders into town one day, walking at a slant, and manages to completely transform the place and its people. Tilting their heads as well, the residents discover long-lost items, rekindle long-dead romances, and just gain a new perspective on the world around them. Eventually they reorder their lives and rebuild their city so that it is catawampus too. But when the mayor presents the new town to the feline who started it all - now they are just like him! - the Catawampus Cat straightens himself out, and walks off, once again askew from the world around him... This amusing tale from author Jason Carter Eaton, who has also penned such humorous titles as Great, Now We've Got Barbarians!, is paired with quirky and appealing artwork from illustrator Gus Gordon, the author/artist responsible for such wonderful titles as Herman and Rosie. Their partnership seems to have been a success, as the interplay between text and image in The Catawampus Cat works quite well. I enjoyed Gordon's mixed media visuals, and thought they captured the sensibility of Eaton's story to perfection. The messages implicit in the story, about looking at things from a fresh perspective, and about staying an individual, are well observed, and never overwhelm the story. Recommended to anyone who is a little catawampus themselves, as well as to those who maybe need to be a little more catawampus in the future... nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
