This was completely awesome in my line of one of my favorite beginnings of a YA trilogy. Magic ( check ) a mild touch of romance ( check ) good verses evil ( check ) strong female character ( check ) completely unseen twist with the dark side gaining the upper edge right at the end that is completely plausible ( check ). Can’t wait to get into the rest of the tale who will rule: summer or winter ?? ( )

Let me tell you something...this book was everything I hate mixed into one terrible book I had high expectations for. Insta love, terrible writing, creepy love interest, bad world building.

This book is a retelling of Swan Lake though I can't say I really saw any of that in here. It's also practically a rip off of Lord of the Rings in terms of names and places - that or all of the names in this book was like the author banged her head on a keyboard and called it a book name. Also, I couldn't even say half the names which made things so extremely annoying. Like I thought SJM names were difficult, but this...

Okay, okay... I shouldn't be rude. But I just didn't like it. ( )

I'm not rating this because I don't know how far along in the final editing process the version I read was and it would be unfair to judge an "unfinished" book. But, since I did read it, I wanted it to count toward my challenge.

I got Dark Breaks the Dawn for my birthday this year, I've been on a retelling kick lately, and LOVED this unique take on Swan Lake. The reinvented landscape, the remarkable cast of characters, and if you're like me and also get the book on audible, you'll love how easy it is to get swept up in Eadrolan, and Evelayn's story. Dark Breaks the Dawn gives you a LOT of back story into Swan Lake, and I'm guessing book two will be more of the traditional story that we know. The ending had me crying, maybe throwing the book across the room, and over all, anticipating the sequel. ( )

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book before it was released. As soon as I read the description I was hooked. I read the ARC, and then once the book came out I read it again because I couldn't get enough of the story. I would definitely recommend it to those who love magic and some romance. I am so excited for the second book to come out!!!
