This book explains that spiders are not insects; they are arachnids. It explains the different types of webs that spiders make, how the spiders make the webs, and how the webs are used to capture food. It also explains that there are some spiders which do not make webs to capture food. More importantly, this book does a great service by showcasing the two spiders, native to the United States, which can harm you. An activity, which gives the steps to capture a web “to hang on your wall,” is presented at the end of the book. Two websites are listed for more information. This book does not have real pictures of spiders, but the drawings are very good. ( ) Spinning Spiders is a great non-fiction book about spiders and their webs. This book teaches readers about the different kinds of spiders, what they eat, the difference between them and insects, and the various kinds of spiders. The book also discusses the intricate webs that spiders are famous for creating. The images of spiders in the book will, without doubt, entice young readers to keep reading.
