Youth- a time when we have a naive outlook of what life should be. We enter the world with a blindspot to heartbreak and rejection. In our minds eye we are invincible to all the negativity and can accomplish anything we set our minds to. A great viewpoint to have but does not always proved to be accurate and when the blinders are removed and reality intrudes into that bubble we've built it hurts a lot. Alone With You is an accurate depiction of the simplicity of young love and how maturity and life changes. It is a journey full of emotion that proves painful at times but Ms. Callahan gets straight to the heart. Jake and Claire through the process of getting older have to face growing apart and finding out who they are separately before they can find their way back to each other. I received a copy of Alone With You in exchange for an honest review. My first time reading this author and enjoyed every minute of it. I'm really enjoying this series. And this time it's Jake turn. Adopted at a young age, Jake's love for his adoptive mother is unprecedented, he'd do anything for her. She's now gone after a illness took her strength and dignity, but Jake was there to see her through the bad days and pain and hopefully make her last days as comfortable as possible. She left Jake and his brothers cards they had filled out years ago with wishes and dreams they wanted. She returns them to remind them their dreams so they can achieve them now they're grown. Jake's dream is Claire. They had been in love for years, or so he thought, he certainly loved her and always would, but Claire didn't want a life on a farm and left in search of her career. But unfortunate circumstances bring them back together again. Will their differences still keep them apart or will they come to an understanding. The push and pull between these two characters was at times heart-wrenching, they want to be together, but their differences will always make their lives a struggle. I loved the brothers, they didn't always help with Jakes sanity, the bantering was at times none stop, but when he really needed them they were there for each other, it was great. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Mitchell's story, he's an interesting character I'd like to know more about. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
