An interesting short about how some individuals deal with disabilities. ( ) Read this without having read any of the previous books but I don't think this suffers for that. I knew something bad had happened without needing the details. I could feel not just Sammy's frustration but Beau's as well. I think I might have the first book in this series. I should read it. If not I should buy it. Read this without having read any of the previous books but I don't think this suffers for that. I knew something bad had happened without needing the details. A sequel to Roughstock: File Gumbo - Season One, this gives us a glimpse of Sam and Beau's life after Sam's recovery from a serious head injury. It also works well as a standalone though, because the focus is on how both of them deal with Sam's difficulty in speaking, and there is no real need to know the exact details of their back story. While these guys communicate pretty well with just Beau talking, he fact that Sam finds it difficult to speak puts a damper on their relationship. Sam is doing well physically, he just thinks he "sounds stupid" when he tries to talk. So he doesn't, at least not out loud. He thinks "at Beau" all the time, but that doesn't work, so both of them get frustrated with each other. Beau will do anything to hear Sam's voice, and taking a few days to drive into the mountains to be away from all the chores at the ranch is just the thing. Beau has a few tricks up his sleeve, and when things get hot and heavy, Sam finds it easier to forget his issues and starts to speak. Needless to say, this makes Beau happy, and proves to Sam that he is not stupid at all. If you like cowboys, if seeing two men dealing with the consequences of a serious accident is something you’re curious about, and if you like your stories short and very hot, you will probably like this one.
