I normally do not like novellas or short stories, mainly because I rarely read one in which the characters and stories are fleshed out enough for my tastes. This one, however, was a delight. This short read could have easily been expanded into a wonderful full-length novel, but for once, I was happy enough with what I had. The entire story took place over the course of about four months, which was a good call on the author's part if she wanted to avoid the whole insta-love problems so many novellas suffer from.

My only real complaint is while I felt a connection with Mark, and heck, even baby Leo, I did not get a very strong feel for Ian. It was close, but just not as close as it could have been. Could be the shortness of the story. Or it could be that the entire story was told from Mark's POV, however I did not have that trouble when I read [b:The Last Thing He Needs|22594999|The Last Thing He Needs (The Last Thing He Needs, #1)|J.H. Knight|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1403877621s/22594999.jpg|42077100], which was also told from only one character's POV. I'm going to have to go with the brevity of the story preventing me from having a better connect.

Overall, the story was satisfying. It's my second read by this author and I will definitely try some more by her.
