The Wager by Allen Kent is a good political book with lots of intrigue. Some of it looks like similar to the news now, but party comes before people so nothing is done. The book seems to go forward then back then forward where it gets a bit confusing at times. It gets a bit slow at other times. I do like his characters. (I don't like them...but how he makes you hate some of them, lol) It is worth the read for sure, it is an okay read. ( ) I don't give many five star reviews but this one definitely qualifies in my opinion. This story could have been ripped from the front page of today's news or from social media. The basic plot, two competing newsmen from competing stations bet on whether or not they can manipulate popular support for competing presidential candidates, seems to be eerily possible and plausible in our current culture and one almost forgets they are reading a novel. It is well written and the Unit One characters from a previous book return in this mystery adventure. His characterizations are outstanding and especially the two main characters, Adam Zak and Dreu Sason. The plot is riveting and very timely and the book reads quickly. I have enjoyed most of Kent's books, but this one may be by far the best. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
