Didnt realize until I went to write up this review that this was the third book in a series. Ooops. Very readable as a standalone though, and since I picked this up second hand Im cutting myself some slack. I liked the art in this book, and found it to be an interesting look at the Montreal art world of the 80's. The setting is made distinct by regional references and french signs and backgrounds and is both serious and comical. However it shares an issue that Tintin, the comic the book frequently references, also suffers from; casual racism. Drawings and depictions rely on stereotypes and the white characters in the book express disgust/confusion about other cultures. While its certainly not the focus of the book it did affect my enjoyment of the story. One other (slightly nitpicky) thing I didnt like about this book was the fact that the characters smoked cigarettes around their pet bird. Just made me cringe. I love love Michel Rabagliati's Paul serials. I believe they are all based (maybe loosely) on his own life stories. Paul is a loving, easy going and natural guy which you want to meet in your daily life. There's no dramatic events, political implications or any other dark materials in these books. Always simple life with simple love. Just like most of us, Paul is sensitive but optimistic. Reading his books, just like sitting in a room with open windows, morning sun shine brings the cool breeze to you enlightening your heart and spirit. People are looking for Zen, inner peace or life wisdom. But I believe the real happiness is from your appreciation to your daily life and embracing it fully. What happen in everyday are real and which attitude to live with them will define your life. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Michel Rabagliati delivers another charming, thinly veiled memoir. Michel Rabagliati crafts stories that are easily accessible to both young-adult and adult audiences with his semifictional protagonist, Paul. InPaul Moves Out he takes another step into adulthood by moving out of his parents' house and into his first apartment with his girlfriend, enjoying life's pleasures as well as confronting its challenges.
