This was a great book! Very fast paced and kept me guessing of what was going to happen next. Can't wait to read the second book in this series. ( )

I was hooked from the beginning. I grew up hearing ghost stories and would go riding around the back roads with my aunts looking for ghosts. Good times for sure. This book reminded me of those times. The story captivated me though, at times, it seemed like there were more characters than I could keep up with. I put that down to some places have more ghosts than others. I thought Brian and Jenny were realistic, average people, though Jenny did react weirdly at times. I took that to be a part of her personality. Maybe not the way I would react but then we all have quirks and our own ways of dealing with stressful situations. The characters of Sam and Leo I enjoyed the most. The ghosts were well written. I liked that some were good and others were evil. That goes with every good ghost story I heard growing up. I wouldn't call the book absolutely horrifying but it does have its moments. I liked that not every encounter had me terrified. In my opinion that is what made it realistic. I enjoyed this narrator. He varied his voice for characters and scenes. Sometimes in listening to a book, I can fall asleep. It is the narrator who makes a difference for me. This narrator, Andrew Tell, kept me awake and invested. I think he was a good match for the story.
I purchased this for my Kindle but then was given the Audible version for review purposes, (I do not receive any type of compensation for my reviews. They consist of my true feelings and thoughts while reading or listening to a book.) I have to say I absolutely loved listening to it with the lights off. That definitely was a treat. If you like to hear creepy ghost stories in the dark then I definitely recommend getting this book from Audible. I am planning on reading more of this series, hopefully listening in the dark! ( )

Started out well, then petered out, until it dead ended. Not certain I'll read book two. ( )

Moving In (Moving In #1) by Ron Ripley

Brian moves his family to the country to escape the hustle and bustle of City living. Soon strange things begin to happen, and he finds a dead body in the woods. He then finds out his house is a burial ground (in the basement). Once he learns the secrets of this house, he begins to wonder if the move was the right thing to do.

An original story that moves at a fast pace with likable characters and a lot of thrills and chills. I found Moving In to be an enjoyable read and feel those who love a great ghost story will enjoy this as well. ( )

After Brian has a heart attack before age 40, he and his wife Jenny move to the peaceful countryside to escape the stress of the city. He has reduced his workload and arranged to work from home; Jenny has a job in the new location. But peace is not what they find; immediately, Brian finds the basement door opening itself every time he closes- and latches- it. Then a dead body is found on his property. Next an invisible entity starts pouring him drinks in the kitchen, as if to say “Here, you’re going to need this!” Problems accelerate from there, as he finds a graveyard hidden in the basement and an evil entity in the barn. Things get worse from there, and a couple of psychics join the fray.

This is short for a novel. I had high hopes at first, with the opening doors and spooky things. But things moved extremely fast; too fast, really. Soon there are so many people, dead and alive, that it’s hard to follow who is who. While there is tension and danger, things get resolved a little too easily- although not without losses. This is the first of a series, and it has the flaws that a lot of introductory stories have. The characters aren’t developed at all, but they have some promise. It kind of reminded me of old pulp stories, really, which isn’t really a bad thing. ( )
