I was asked by the author to give an honest review of this book of poetry. I will say that poetry is not my first choice in reading, but this is a moving collection of poems. Stylistically not all of the poems "grabbed" me, but all of them are powerful in their way. This collection of poems is a memoir of certain aspects of the author's life. The poems are at times disturbing and heart wrenching, as they give the reader a glimpse into what must have been some extraordinarily difficult times in her life. They give insight into the psyche of someone enduring an abusive relationship and I believe many other women will relate to these poems on a visceral level. I loved lines such as: "Take me atop your white horse, The one that fits perfectly with my delusion With your sword unsheathed Tell me what you bring to the table Perhaps, a fable with a dark secret underneath." (I won't spoil it by giving you the rest of the poem, but there was a line underneath this about malevolence in innocence which I loved.) And the last line in the last poem: "So many miles to go Before I float above the surface And maybe my hope will finally be strong once again" I think so many people in a variety of difficult situations are going to relate to this journey through dark times Corridors of My Mind is dark, at times disturbing, but well worth the read. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I found the poems in this book to be thought-provoking, evocative, realistic, powerful, personal, intimate... In fact, I believe I experienced almost every emotion reading them, which is the hallmark of a fantastic reading experience.
I would certainly recommend this book to all lovers of poetry, but also to any like me who are open to broadening their horizons.
