Taylor and Col are the stabilizing factor in each others lives. The bond they share is important to them despite time, distance and the travails of adulthood. But what happens when the tides change and intense feelings start to factor into the equation? Molly McLain has the magic touch when it comes to high octane reactive stories. She writes stories filled with climatic passion, that have a little bit of that naughty feel mixed with soulful emotion. The story is incomplete, it's a cliffhanger, folks.
Now that is out of the way because SIGH, here's my personal opinion.



It clearly states this is book 1 but I felt lost as all get out in the beginning as people and relationships are thrown at you with no context or explanation. The hero and heroine supposedly have this epic friendship, but other than it being said over and over, I see no evidence of it. Every dude wants the heroine, every woman wants the hero and he likes to partake, heroine is the hero's emotional crutch, and hero likes to throw money at heroine.

This was almost 200pgs of the hero and heroine wanting to make a move on each other but scared the other one still just wanted to be friends. Which could have worked wonderfully but that was the only depth to our characters. The heroine has a little bit background with her father having a traumatic brain injury but even that wasn't fleshed out too great. The hero's fmx bike career somewhat touched on, the author has a brief scene listing a bunch of tricks and the over and over mentioning of hero having women throw themselves at him.

More context needed and less NA cliche been there done that. I also almost lost an eye rolling it so hard at the ending cliffhanger. ( )

Colton and Taylor have been best friends for as long as either of them could remember. And Taylor has always been behind Colton's back in everything he does, even when it means he follows his dreams of motorcross. She stays behind and watches from the sidelines. But finally when she gets up the nerve to finally follow her own dreams, something terrible happens that prevents her from leaving their home town. Now all Colton wants is Taylor's happiness...with him a part of it. And when he tries to show her the side of his life that she hasn't been a part of , things backfire on him. All she wants is her freedom and Colton has no choice but to give her it before he loses her forever.
I loved this story and immediately bought the second in the series. Yeah!!!! ( )

Friends to lovers with a cliff hanger that left me wanting to know what will happen next.

Colton and Taylor have been best friends for fifteen years and though there has been attraction it has been denied in favor of friendship. Colton took off seven years before, just out of high school, to follow his dream of making it big in the motor cross arena. They have stayed in touch, text almost daily and are there for one another. Things begin to change during the time period of this story and at the very moment all seems it may be moving into a future together there is a big shakeup with a surprise that will prove life altering.

The story is written in first person present tense from the alternating viewpoints of Colton and Taylor. The writing style is comfortable and easy to read. The characters are believable though perhaps more backstory could have been added. I liked Matt and hope he along with Trey, Tito and others will have their stories told in future books. I prefer to read an entire book of a couple’s relationship rather than have cliff hangers and if there are cliff hangers will often wait to pick up a boxed set so I can read straight through. Bria needs a smack (or two) but does provide some tension that stirs the pot. I hope that future books will talk a bit more about motor cross, how people get into it, practices, events, equipment, etc. I had to look it up online to find out more and see some photos since I have never been into it in the past.
