Demons, Magical Elementals, Swamp Thing versus Poison Ivy, and all the Supes are locking themselves within the Houses of Mystery and Secrets. What a rush. The art is great, but the story is pretty damn fantastic. It's a lot more than a bash-em, hack-em tale. It's more like a long game of chess with these blokes on the table. Right, Constantine? Damn fun stuff, a no holds barred free for all where anyone can and probably will die. The reversals are sudden and final. Hopefully I won't take too much time to get to the next. :) Remember how I mentioned year 2 volume 2 jumping the shark? This book rides a shark while wearing a shark for a hat as it jumps over another, bigger shark. It's like a purposefully bad movie that is laughing at itself and therefore becomes fun to watch and laugh along with them. The writing continues to be good, though, making the ridiculous premise (relatively speaking of course) fun to go along with for the ride. I received this from Edelweiss and DC Comics in exchange for an honest review. Pretty good continuation from the new helmsman for this title, Brian Buccalleto. The story almost got out of control, but by the end of the main arc, it was sufficiently reined in. I was kind of surprised at the two tales included at the end, but they were quite necessary for understanding what had happened leading up to the main arc. Some surprises in this one, from certain villains appearing to some shocking deaths. Still a very compelling series, and I'm looking forward to reading Year Four. Have a favorite DC comics character? Chances are they are part of this book! The epic battle between forces amassed by both Superman and Batman, facing each other, gets out of control and requires the help of yet more of your favorites to regain control. To say anything else about the story would require spoilers... something I just won't do. I will also add that the illustrations are top-notch! If you are currently a superhero fan, or a former childhood fan seeking how comics have changed, pick up a copy and give it a quick read! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
