Fiction. Mystery. HTML:

Lucille Mazzarella is back, and this time she's investigating the murder of her own poor cousin Louis. Tracking down a killer might lead the fifty-something housewife into the clutches of a Godfather she never wanted to meet.

When Lucille discovers the body of her cousin Louis in the church parking lot, her first thought is that he may have skipped one service too many, but when the cops shock her with the news that Louis was killed by a professional hit man, she realizes the Almighty had nothing to do with the deed.

Even more shocking is the discovery that the victim, who never had a penny to his name, had socked away a huge wad of cash. As Lucille and her best friend Flo follow the money trail, it leads them from a seedy strip joint to a high-stakes gambling ring and all the way to the mob.

As the thugs close in and threaten to end Lucille's detecting days for good, she's tempted to give in to the most dangerous crooks she's ever faced, but then she remembers she's got a little family thing of her own that means more.

This is the fourth book in the Lucille Mystery series, but the first I have read. I will need to go back and read the others. I laughed a lot while reading this book. It reminds me of the Stephanie Plum books with an older cast. Lucille and her best friend Flo are such funny characters that the reader will wish they were hanging out with them. I am not catholic so am not sure about all the patron saints mentioned but there are a lot. And you will love the infamous Mediterranean diet.

The mystery involves the death of cousin Louis. Lucille is not sure if he was killed by the daughter of the woman he was romancing from the nursing home or possibly due to mob connections, money laundering, gambling and of course, The Napoleon Club. You will laugh when Lucille shows up for a job interview at the Na"pole"on club. Her family are a hoot as well, and they are fun to get to know. Lucille works at the church and it also fits in to her adventures. A policeman in the family as well as Flo's boyfriend being on the force is always sure to have one of them involved in her adventures. Don't miss out on this side-splitting adventure! A great book for those who like a light-hearted mystery with a few laughs. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via netgalley. ( )

This is book number 4 in A Lucille Mystery series. The story begins with Lucille Mazzarella having their family Thanksgiving dinner. She is just finishing up her work at the church when she finds her cousin Louis dead in his car with a gunshot wound to his head. Louis recently had been gambling at local poker games and a wad of cash was found stashed in a sock in his dresser. Lucille, with the help of her friend Flo, take it upon themselves to seek out his murderer, since he was family after all. Their search will have them stealing an ambulance and winding up in some strange locations including the dump. It will also have Lucille end up at a very interesting job interview (which had me laughing). Lucille also will have to deal with her husband Frankie who is having chest pains that he claims are heartburn, Bernadette and Tony still live with her and now Lucille's Ma will be moving in as she got kicked out of the nursing home she was in (in part due to Lucille's actions). Lucille and Flo will put themselves and their loved ones in danger but they won't give up until the murderer is found.

I have only read one other book in this series, which was book #3. Lucille's antics had me laughing quite often but I often found some of the over the top situations to be quite unbelievable as Lucille never got in trouble for her actions that included stealing an ambulance. She has a thing about borrowing (stealing) the strangest vehicles. I had to laugh at her Mediterranean diet. I found Lucille to be easy to relate to in some ways and the author did a great job of making her characters believable in this story as they all dealt with real life problems. The mystery itself was good and I never saw the end coming as far as who the murderer was. This was a quick read with a storyline that flowed very smoothly. I would recommend reading the other books in this series as there are a lot of characters and not much background information is provided but it is enough to eventually sort everyone out in the story. I would like to go back and read the first two books and I will be on the lookout for the next book in this series.

I received a free digital version of this book from the publisher, Beyond the Page Publishing, and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. ( )

Room With A Pew is the fourth book in the A Lucille Mystery series.

I love this series. The characters to me are so real that I feel that I might know some of them. The characters may not use prefect English all time, but then that is what make them so believable. And yes, they may put themselves in a difficult and dangerous situation. But that's what makes Lucille and Flo, Lucille and Flo and one come to expect that.

In this book, Lucille her cousin Louis dead from a gunshot to the head. Her childhood friend, Detective Sumbucco, says that it looks, like a mob hit. Then when Lucille and her sister, Angela, find $10,000 in his room, they can't understand where he got that kind of money. When it is suggested that he might have been laundering money, Lucille wanted to know why he washes his money.

Granted Lucille and Flo aren't Batman and Robin, but they are a dynamic duo in their own right.

In addition to their sleuthing to find Louis' killer, Lucille has to deal with her husband's diet to get his cholesterol under control. Also Lucille is trying the Mediterranean diet, and her thoughts about this are just too, too funny.

It's always a joy to visit with Lucille, her family and friends.

This series gives you a laugh on practically every page.

Looking forward to the next adventures of Lucille. ( )
