Let me preface with this. If you're looking for a gothic, sweeping, claiming love story, you're not going to get it here. This is definitely not your garden variety, vampire romance, and I have to give Frank points for originality. This is actually a start to what seems like an epic battle, full of mystery and revealing very little. So basically, take this as a stepping stone for the first in a planned trilogy and maybe you won't be as frustrated as I was, since I thought it was mostly a stand alone in a loosely linked series.

Alasdair is ruthless like any 2000 year old vampire would be. He sees who he wants and takes them without apology. That includes Leo, a human that has elicited a curious response in him that he's rarely felt. However, Leo's blood paralyzes instead of energizes and the enigma surrounding that starts a chain reaction that brings about some serious consequences - unfolding a frightening plan to annihilate all vamps.

If you avoided Frank due to her tendency towards a lot of smex, this was not the case here (which I honestly missed). Make no mistake that the UST is off the charts but insta-love it is not. It's more gawd you're so f*#@ing hot and terrifyingly scary but I can't stop thinking about you going out of my mind want your cock so bad please claim me I'm dying of severe horniness.

Still, I'm intrigued because there are a lot of questions left unanswered, and this literally ends on a cliffhanger. Sooooo that pretty much guarantees I'll be reading the next book despite the fact that it's going to be M/F. Yeah. You read that right. ( )

Mmmm, this book is so lustful. The author has created an all-star cast. They are gloooooorious, and the sexual tension almost melted the screen off my kindle. I'm talking about the finest specimens to ever exist combined with over 2,000 years of learned charm and earned power. Then, throw in Greek history and gods. It all boils down to survival and desire. And that ending...oh yeah, baby. These vampires are just too seductive for my well being.

Alasdair's plot is über mysterious. Besides the current attraction, there is an overall big story unfolding with hints and flashbacks dropped here and there. The reader has to try to figure out who the characters are to each other and what it all means for the future.

Masters Among Monsters is a full-on dessert smorgasbord, and I've only licked the spoon. I can't wait for more.
