Visiting Faythander, a fairy world, is a nasty business. Forget the fairies and unicorns, most people come back with lost memories and mental problems. Olive Kennedy knows. She's the therapist who treats patients suffering from Faythander's side effects. She may have an emotionless mother and an apathetic boyfriend, but she takes pride in her job. She's never failed to cure a clientâuntil now. Traveling back to Faythander wasn't on Olive's to-do list. But she has no choice. The fate of both Earth and Fairy depends on her ability to stop an evil being called the Dreamthief. Saving the world, she can handle. Falling in loveânot so much. Now, she'll have to decide between her heart and the future of an entire planet. As if battling the forces of evil wasn't complicated enough⦅ (altro)

I greatly enjoyed it, but I know I have friends I couldn't recommend it to. ( )

Dreamthief is worthy of good praises!

This novel is about a half-elf and a half-human girl named Olive – who lives half of her life in Faythander and now works as a therapist on the Earth Kingdom. She had a perfectly simple life there, but everything will change when something happened to her godson. Jeremiah’s dream soul was taken to Faythander, and she must rescue him before death consumes him and before destruction comes to both Faythander and Earth.

Woah! I just fell in love with this book! Everything since the first chapter, it already pulled me in the story. I just found myself living inside the book together with Olive. It’s like watching a scene, and you were there – secretly and just invisible from the characters. I think it is because of the powerful writing style of the author. If it were not, then maybe it is because of the great story itself. And I just like how it engaged me from the first page until the end.

I’ve also found what I want in a book here on Dreamthief. How?

First, the romance didn’t overshadow the plot. It was mild, and it was slowly built, unlike the characters that just fell in love at a very short time. Here, it started from a small liking to Kull, the Wult prince, and as they went together on a journey to rescue Olive’s godson, she just found herself slowly and helplessly liking him more, and it is also the same for Kull. I found it sweet and pure. It was not a liking that started because the guy has a great body or the likes, but it was because Kull himself was lovable enough based on his personality.

Second, the main character really shows courage and bravery even if the hope she can see was already as thin as a needle thread. Olive also has shown sign of giving up, but it was overtaken by her courage, and her want to save his godson. Even if she was hurt for something, it didn’t affect her real purpose on going back to Faythander.

Third, the plot itself is fantastic, and it was well planned too. The existence of Faythander was very well explained, and everything about it was just amazing. I also learned what species resides on Faythander – elf, dragons, pixie, wult, and goblin – and what makes them different from one another. It is something hard to give justice because some authors failed to make them stay true to what they are, and here, I can really see how they were different from one another.

Lastly, the ending resolved the main problem in this book, but it still gave me something to look forward to the next book. Unlike the other books in a series, this one didn’t provide devastating cliff-hanger so the readers will really need the next book. Instead, this ended in a fairly and satisfying way – something only a few authors could give.

As for what I disliked on this book, I don’t think I could give one right now because I’m still wandering inside Faythander.

Overall, this book just made it on my favorite list. I am really recommending this book, especially to those who like fantasy and anything that has to do with elves, dragons, pixies, wults, goblins, magic, and parallel world.

Disclaimer: I received a readers copy of this book from the author. ( )
