Evolved Publishing brings you "Forbidden Fire" (Book 2 of the Forbidden Trilogy), by award-winning author Kimberly Kinrade. (YA Paranormal Fantasy/Romance, with mild mature themes.) "She escaped, but she'll never be free." "Time held no meaning as my mind darted in and out of memories. Past and present collided to create a full-sensory collage out of my life: playing hide-n-seek with my best friends Luke--who always cheated by walking through walls when he was about to be caught--and Lucy; Mr. Caldrin critiquing my sketches and offering ideas to make them more realistic; targets changing faces, blending into the same person, their thoughts rippling through my mind like waves. Through it all, a demon stalked me from the shadows of my memories, never quite showing its face, but crouching, waiting. And then I dreamed...." Sam and Drake may have escaped, but they aren't free--not with a powerful Seeker after them. As Sam struggles with the ethics of her new powers and embraces a blossoming physical relationship with Drake, Lucy and Luke face challenges of their own. With forces coalescing inside and outside the Rent-A-Kid dorms, it's only a matter of time before the fire they started forces each of them to make choices they can't undo. But will it be enough to save them?… (altro)

Forbidden Fire is the second book in the Forbidden Trilogy. In Forbidden Fire, Sam and Drake have escaped and are living under the radar in California. While they try to stay out of sight and come up with a plan to rescue the other Rent-A-Kids, they are struggling with more personal issues, like jealousy and ethics. Meanwhile, back at the compound, Lucy and Luke are caught in a nightmare that just keeps getting worse as the Organization tightens its hold.

With unexpected revelations and an interesting twist, Forbidden Fire will keep you enthralled until the very last page. I read the whole thing in one sitting. Forbidden Life comes out today, and you can bet I'll be reading it as soon as I get my hands on it. I need to find out if Drake's common sense will overcome his pride. (He's such a typical male.)

Where I got the book: Free from the author in exchange for an honest review

I do not know if it's possible to love a sequel more than the first book, but I do! There was a lot more action in Forbidden Fire. I loved every word in this book.

Sam and Drake are on the run after escaping from Rent-A-Kid. They face some major obstacles. Sam keeps getting extremely sick. There are also people that keep finding them.

I love how these books continue to focus on morality issues. You learn a lot about good and evil. Some of the characters begin to learn that that it's not all black and white. There are many situations that fall into that gray area. Sam is concerned about her powers being good or evil. It's one of the major points of this book.

There are a couple of surprises. Especially regarding the Seeker. I'm also curious about Father Patrick. He knows a lot about these powers. Is he a person with a power, or is there something else going on?

I also really enjoyed the alternating viewpoints. It was great hearing from characters other than Drake and Sam.

I highly recommend this series. The story line is intriguing, and it leaves you wondering what's next.

Well this is the second in the trilogy. I have to admit they just keep getting better and better. However, Kimberly left readers with another cliffhanger. I really am not surprised after that cliffhanger in the first book. However, we will not go there.

Sam is on the run. She has escaped Rent-A-Kid but there is just one problem. Sorry, you have to read the book to know the problem. Sam has found new powers. She is able to control people, make then complete a task and then make then forget they actually did that. This would be so nice. To make people do or not do something To try and control all the bad things that happen. Just think if people had powers like this and put them to good use you might be able to stop people from abusing drugs or alcohol anything that is harmful. Ok I know back to my review. While Sam goes through lots of major changes she realizes that life without Drake would be impossible.

Drake escaped with Sam. On the run from Rent-A-Kid and anything else, that might be after them. Drake learns so much about Sam and her life at Rent-A-Kid.

Luke and Lucy are not in this book as they were in the first. They each still play important roles and readers will see more of them in the third book.

While I admit that YA books are not something I normally read, I am so glad I decided to read this trilogy. Kimberly has created a work of art.

Thanks for another amazing read Kimberly.

INSANE! FREAKIN IN INSANE I TELL YOU!!! I obviously have not been able to piece my mind back together (for anyone who paid attention to my review of Forbidden Mind) seeing that i'm repeating myself and putting it in CAPS as if that will make up for my lack of a thorough and professional review...does it?

Doesn't matter. You can read the summary on your own. I don't need to rephrase it for you. As regards to the author, I already said in my last post that Kinrade is my FREAKING SUPERHERO and her ability to connect her readers with her characters has not diminished (the added POV's was a bonus!). She is so down-to-earth too! Example:

"Luce, you could've asked him a question and watched for signs. You should be a natural, like in that show Lie to Me." "Ha! I'll work on it. Sucks that they canceled that show."

Kinrade, Kimberly (2012-03-24). Forbidden Fire (Forbidden #2) (p. 48). Evolved Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Thankyou! That show was stinkin amazing! I was majorly bummed to find out that it was no more *tear*.

Anyways, getting more of Drake and Sam or Luke and Lucy gave me my fix for the night so I can finally go to sleep (at 3:30 in the morning!). If you enjoy action, and thrilling suspense with romance in its proper place(a true love that you will root for), Forbidden Fire will set you on fire for sure! ( )

Returning with Sam and Drake from the first book and adding in her friends left behind the walls at the center: the twists and turns that this installment take have increased the ante for all the characters. As the story progresses, the kids are growing into their powers and developing abilities that are far more than anyone expected.

Continuing nicely where the first book ended, as the kids age, their actions and dilemmas are also more adult in nature. The involvement of the differences about the moral use of power that flares up with Drake and Sam increases the already tense feel to the book, as they are still running and hiding from those who want to control them: and they are concerned for friends left behind.

Add to the “good and bad” there are several elements of gray from the less noble of the characters, when no one act is ever strictly good or wholly bad once you see the motivations. It is a book that I found fractionally better than the first, the emotional investment in the characters was already established in book one, and strengthened with this twisty story.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review for Innovative Online Book tours. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.
