Follows Tom Grape through his day, as he gets up, brushes his teeth, eats lunch at school, plays outside, and performs other appropriate activities according to the time.

This book is wonderful to show students what telling time is. Also, this would be a great book to use when starting a unit over telling time.

Veggie tales has been round for many years. I have not read many of the books. But of the books I have read this was not my favorite. I thought the illustrations were very well drawn as usual in any veggie tale book. I thought that this book could be used for kindergarten, and first graders learning to tell time on a traditional clock. A very simple activity you can do during the story is to ask the kids what time the clock in the book is showing. (Clearly displayed in the right hand corner.) This is a simple activity that young children would be able to complete. The book had a very nice rhyming scheme but other than that I was un-impressed with the length, and teaching style in the book. ( )

Time For Tom is one of the first books I learned as a child. It is one of the many books in a series called Veggie Tales, which also is famous for its television shows. This book has an emphasis on teaching kids how to tell time and having a daily routine they can follow. The author takes the readers through the typical day of a young child. He has to get up, eat breakfast, go to school, eat lunch, play outside, eat dinner, take a bath, and get ready for bed. While reading this book, one can see a clock with the time on it for each activity. This is a fun way to get readers interactive because once they figure out how to tell time, they an associate that time with the corresponding activity. The fun colors and interesting/humorous characters bring life to the book as well as the TV series; making it fun for kids to learn and love reading. It is not the best book to have in a public school because Veggie Tales is a christian company and the book references God a few times. The fact that it is a religious children's book makes it perfect for families who want their children to read Godly educational books that are appropriate for first time readers. ( )

Time for Tom is a fictionally picture book that is part of a the Veggietales series. This book is an educational book on how to learn how to tell time in a book format. The story takes you through a boys day and what the typical day of a young boy would look like. Getting up, getting ready for school, going to school, dinner time, and bed time with his parents.
In my opinion, this book is a great way to introduce to children the concept of time. The author did a great job of illustrating time through the day of a young boy. This makes it easy to relate to for the children and conveys that learning how to tell time is fun and easy. The illustrations in this book are very vibrant and eye catching. They add to the story and children get excited to read stories like these because of the cover.
A teacher may use this book in the classroom for another tool in helping teach how to tell time. A spark will be ignited in how to learn how to tell time just like Tom did. ( )
