This is I think the 18th book to feature Serge and Colman, and for the last five or six books in the series these main characters have gotten tiresome, and become shells of the characters they were in the beginning. I think the author has decided to branch out a bit as well, because while Serge and Colman plan a prominent role in this book there are plenty of other characters and are you ready an actual story this time.
Tim Dorsey, the author, waxes nostalgic for the 60's and and old baseball, apple pie everyone having dinner together small town America. Much of this commentary is accurate, and it just takes Serge to point out why we miss it.
As always there are crooked politicians and complete innocents thrown to the wolves until Serge rescues them, not always the best hero a person could ask for.
I really enjoyed this series entry, and think the author should make Serge and Colman more background characters rather than the stars of his future books. (
