Secondhand Cowboy by Lacy Williams is a contemporary romance about second chances and trust Lacy Williams. Iris Tatum is well off and dreams of becoming a ballerina and Callum Stewart, a rodeo cowboy, are the main characters that were in love and going to elope on her 18th birthday. Days before her birthday Callum watches her perform on stage and feels that he will only hold her back. Unfortunate circumstances cause Callum to be blackmailed into leaving town without ever telling Iris why. Five years later, Callum returns to town with triplets, and finds Iris still there and not dancing. . Iris is a woman who keeps getting knocked down (her failed dancing career, the death of an uncle, being there/helping care for her sister when she is diagnosed with cancer) but she continues to bounce back with more strength each time. She is just isn’t sure she will be able to bounce back after seeing Callum again. Both characters are loveable, but they are not without flaws such as independence and stubbornness. The storyline flows easily and draws you in. I would recommend this book to anyone. ( )
