Aisling Grey is a courier enjoying a free, work-related trip to Paris when she learns she's a Guardian. That's a keeper of the Gates of Hell, for those who don't know. She finds this out from Drake Vireo, who's scrumptiously sexy-at least in his human form. Now Drake has stolen the package Aisling was sent to deliver, and she must track him down, get the package, and try to resist the passion boiling inside her.

I enjoyed this one initially (the first half) but in the end I was a bit disappointed.
The jokes made me laugh out loud here and there but it intruded on more serious situations that just didn't need any tension release.
Especially the furry sidekick sometimes got me good with unexpected comments but most other times just was incredibly anoying and obnoxious and his joke comments felt very forced.
The characters played way too much into their stereotypes and not in an intentionally humerous manner either making it hard to take anything serious.
There is no character development whatsoever either.
Towards the end it felt like just a buch of cartoon characters thrown onto a stage to play out some silly inconsequential episode that will be void for the next episode.
This book also suffers from quite a lot of inconsistencies regarding the magic as well as other things that I might have been able to willingly overlook but together with all the other issues it just didn't work in the end.
If you like coarse and sometimes misplaced humor and can live without very serious and believable characters this might be enjoyable to you. ( )

Katie MacAlister first book in a riveting series is golden for romance/fantasy lovers everywhere.

It's hard to believe You Slay Me was one of the first books in Katie MacAlister's giant dragon universe (does it have an official name? All of the series within this universe? It probably does...). This book was the first of many cute, sexy, fantasy filled books focusing on dragons. And it's safe to say - it's fantastic! This is one of my many guilty pleasures that I keep on my shelf for when I'm having a rough day. It always makes me smile because it's so sweet!

Katie is a funny writer - she's not super serious, and that's what makes this book work. It's out of the ordinary (obviously, it has dragons and all sorts of crazy creatures in it) and totally addicting. It's fast paced, full of ooey gooey romance, completely silly and filled with sexy men. It's solid chick lit!!

I can definitely see some readers having faults with it - the book doesn't take itself seriously. It's full of funny tropes and understands that it's a lighthearted, romance novel. But for me, it's everything I want in more in a romance novel. I want happy endings, sexy scenes, hot men, quirky jokes and strong, sassy leads. Drake is a bit of a jerk, even I'll admit that, but I like how his character progresses. I'm not sure how else Katie would have introduced these two in the realm of what this universe is, to be very honest.

So, overall, I love it! I'm kinda annoyed I haven't been able to get to the very newest 2017 book yet because these books always make my day!

Five out of five stars. ( )

I really like this series although I get a little irritated with the main character for being so impulsive and the fact that NO ONE seems to tell her the things she needs to know. ( )

You Slay Me
3 Stars

On her first job as a courier, Aisling Grey finds herself out of her depths in Paris when she discovers that her client has been the victim of an apparent demonic ritual. As she is exposed to the world of supernaturals around us, Aisling learns that she is a Guardian as well as a Wyvern's mate - the only problem is that the man with whom she feels an intense attraction is also a thief and her prime suspect for murder.

A cute, light and fluffy read.

Aisling is a likeable heroine well aware of her faults of which there are many. She has got to be one of the most TSTL heroines to ever disgrace the pages of a novel. She thinks and does the most ridiculous things and is then surprised when they go wrong!

Although the love interest, Drake Verio, is certainly sexy, there is an underlying sleaziness to his actions and comments. Moreover, despite the intense chemistry that he shares with Aisling, there is no real emotional connection between the two which undermines the romance.

The mystery is better with a couple of really surprising twists and turns to keep the reader guessing, and the real highlight of the book are the secondary characters, especially Aisling's sidekick, Jim the canine demon whose snarky one liners steal the show.

In sum, this book requires a healthy suspension of disbelief as it is necessary to put aside all logic and reason to accept the characters and events. Nevertheless, anyone looking for humorous respite from heavier works will no doubt enjoy this one.

While I will continue with the series, Aisling can only be taken in small doses so it will have to be when I'm in the right mood.
