It is the last summer before Chelsea and Todd begin college. Chelsea envisions spending time with Todd, but their work schedules and theater schedules seem to be puling them apart. Chelsea meets Dylan on the set of Grease, which she is the head costumer and finds herself led to him. Immediately, Todd dislikes Dylan, which causes Chelsea to pull further away from him, because she sees Dylan as a friend and a fun guy. It seems like Todd and Chelsea are destined to break up....and Dylan seems like he might just be the perfect replacement...or is he? This book touches on several teen issues: underage drinking, peer pressure, drinking and driving I’ll be honest with you. I was worried about this book. I mean… I read YA but it’s almost always fairy tales or Amish fiction – and I was concerned that I would not be able to connect with this story. I was wrong. WOW! I identified with Chelsea in so many ways, ways I never expected. Even reading the back of the book, I didn’t really “get it”. Until I started reading the book that is. This book will appeal to young adults because they are either going through the very things Chelsea is dealing with in her life or they’ve watched a friend go through it. It will appeal to adults because we will be reminded of our youth. It’s like a doorway we can look through to our own past. Amy has somehow managed to capture that and it’s amazing. I mean, I knew she was a great writer but I don’t think I realized how great until I read this story. And it makes me want to go back and read her other young adult stories. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give the story away but I can remember how easy it is to be distracted by an exciting boy. This story brings back the memories of my teen years in sharp clarity. A MUST read! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
