A novel set in a dystopia city of two halves - rich Nebula, and crumbling Portobella, poor, desperate, trapped and mostly lawless. Kai lives in Portobella, and makes a living off his wits in the criminal underworld. When two children escape from the science labs of Nebula, he is hired to catch them. But they have more in common with Kai than he knows...

It's a fun readable dystopia. The sub-plot of Phoebe and Phoenix's relationship, as he becomes colder and more desperate and murders more people, but hides it from her, is creepy and chilling. The 'incredible swimmers' superpowers are a lot of fun, as they dive off cliffs and surf tidal waves, as is the 'genetically engeneered super children escape and have to survive'. And Kai is sassy and cool when he interacts with the Nebulese police. ( )
