This was a very short but well written story. It is set entirely in a house surrounded by the dead, and tells the story of a new mother protecting her baby with no one to help except "biggun". I was impressed that in such a short story the author was able to pull me in and make me care for the characters. This is well worth the short amount of time it takes to read. ( )

A short but very well-written story, this gripped from the beginning. L.X. Cain has written a very effective zombie horror story with a sad but ultimately very human twist at the end.

The characters and history were well-developed in the time available, and you really got a feel for how and why the main character acted as she did. ( )

This was a very, quick read. One that was very easy to get pulled into. It was fast-paced and wasn't overly descriptive (except for a few gruesome moments). I enjoyed it, but I had an issue with it also. I didn't really like the whole aspect of the gun being able to do what it did. I can do zombies, but not talking guns.

I loved how this short story could be at moments considered scary (I don't get scared easy so it didn't bother me) and sad. It also had some touches of gore.

The ending was horrible, but it was a fantastic twist to bring the story to a wonderful conclusion.
