I obtained this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest view and couldn't help but love Booker Adams. Dallas policeman, Booker T. Adams ,is biracial and the only one in his family to graduate and make something of himself thanks to his uncle Charlie. On a cool afternoon, the boy's and girl's club where his young daughter was an unknown person called in supposed bomb threat and it would go off in ten minutes! In the last seven years on the force, he knew there were a few bad apples in the force and Ernie Sims was thick in the middle of them! When a white supremacist group claimed responsibility to killing mostly black children and adults he took it personally and didn't care he was without his gun and shield thanks to his boss. He just wanted to catch that sucker so that a race war and chaos could never be as he owed it to the citizens he swore to protect and serve. I’m a fan of thrillers and received this for an honest review. I’ve never read a book by John W. Mefford so I was looking forward to it. I wasn’t disappointed. The book keep moving along at a good pace with the characters fully developed. The main character Booker was interesting and likeable. The story setting in Dallas was descriptive and the informative. The story was about Booker, his career being questionable and a series of bombings in Dallas. As I stated it as a good pace, with twist and turns. All and all, I think it was a good thriller and I look forward to reading more of Mefford’s books. I'm a huge mystery fan, and there is something about this author which reminds me of James Patterson and his Alex Cross series, which is one of my favorites. One I started reading, I didn't want to put the book down. I just had to know what was going to happen next, and how it was all going to play out. Booker, the main character, is a very diverse character. He is multicultural, which makes him able to relate personally to many different parts of the population of Dallas. He's intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and is very attached to his family, particularly his young daughter, Samantha. I also like the fact that several of the chapters are written from the point of view of the person Booker is trying to catch. That lets us into his thoughts and motivations a little at a time so that we have some understanding of why he is doing what he does. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series. **I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.** nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

This story features a private detective with attitude who shows a rebellious streak and is determined to solve cases handled to him. Dallas is where all the action takes place and where Booker will do anything in his power to protect the people living in this city. But even with the best of intention, Booker is dragged from one situation to another and faces seedy situations that seem insurmountable. He is tested to his limits when a white supremacist group claims responsibility for an explosion on a bus killing fifteen people mostly children, fracturing the community and setting panic in the city….and this is just the beginning….
This novel is simply a roller-coaster ride filled with crackling action and suspense. Mr. Mefford slowly introduces his protagonist and letting us know him before plunging us into unexpected twists and turns so captivating it is hard not to stay riveted to the pages. I was hooked from the start and I simply couldn’t help but to zip through wanting to see who was responsible for these terrible acts of terrorism. To better know the players the story is told alternately from the point of view of Booker and the person responsible for the bombings. Although the story flows fast, it is smooth and well-written with all the great elements a thriller needs in order to capture and hold its reader till the very last page: “Booker” has it, no doubts… ( )
