If you love a great Romance Adventure then you need to read this book. From the very beginning I was hooked. I love how the author describes the great scenery of the High Country in Colorado. You will find that while reading you get lost in the wilderness with Dale, Lisa, and Walsh.
Lisa is a very smart, beautiful, and headstrong Grad Student working to save the boreal toad from extinction. She loves the wilderness and wants to keep the human footprint very low while she is working to save these toads and other wildlife. She has been taught from an early age by her father to appreciate the wilderness and all of its glory. Her father also taught her to take care of herself. She is an avid climber, camper, hiker, and knows how to kick some butt if needed thanks to martial arts training. Lisa is an amazing character. We all should be like her and want to help nature not destroy it for our own greed.
Now Dale on the other hand is not so much an outdoorsman. He would rather be in a lab any day over the outdoor research. While Dale and Lisa are out finding toads and tadpoles for their research they run into Walsh. Unbeknown to Lisa he has been watching her because he thought she was alone on the mountain and didn't want to see a women get hurt.
Walsh is a marine who has given up on society after an incident while working killed one of his best friends. He now lives in the wilderness on his own and rarely goes into town. He still has friends that do the search and rescue in the area and keeps an eye out for anything to help. Walsh is a man who can take care of himself and lives off the land. He is not only good looking and smart but a great tracker as Lisa will find out:)
Meanwhile on the mountain there is a killer who is hunting and killing women. Walsh tells Dale and Lisa when he runs into them but of course this is not about to scare Lisa off the mountain especially while she is doing her research. So when Dale bails on her she goes on her own thinking she can take care of herself. This is where the adventure and cat and mouse game begins. What will happen when fate brings two people together on a quest for their lives in the middle of high country. Who will make it off the mountain? Who will not? This is a must read. You will find as you read that people are not always as they seem. ( )
