It is well written and the illustrations are really well done. Not a lot of people hear about Annie Oakley anymore so it would be a nice story to keep in a classroom. ( ) Katherine Rose did a great job of conveying the life of Annie Oakley. I especially liked that, even though it was a biography, the author made it come to life by including inner dialogue. Annie thinks things like “I’m sure I could bring home much bigger game if only I could use Papa’s rifle.” These tidbits help the reader dive into her mind and put us where she was during that moment. I also like that the illustrations cover every part of each page. Even if there is not something drawn, there is always a color or a pattern or frame that covers the space. There are repeated targets drawn on the edge of every other page on the left, and those foreshadow her shooting career to come! The main message of the story is that it doesn’t matter what your gender is and what is expected of you; you can be great at anything you put your mind to! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
