While not simple - the book provides an essential account of an approach that is more suited to an unfolding and unknowable (predictable) future. The 'precautionary' imperative is by definition biases against the 'new' through a belief that harm cannot adequately be predicted. To balance this bias we need a vigilance principle in order to enable search, exploration and experimentation. The authors elaborate this new imperative very well. ( )

Surely one of the goals of transhumanists should be to rid the world of its addiction to religion and theology, which are nonsensical and noxious. Not only do the authors of this hugely disappointing little work of academic argumentation fail to realize this, but they riddle much of their writing with insufferably annoying theo-talk. At least they are not bioconservatives who think transhumanism is a bad idea, and their title word "proactionary" is meant to be an antonym of "precautionary".
