As the art critic, John Canaday points out in the introduction, there is an unmistakable relationship of these color closeups with abstract expressionism, given the timing of the work. He also shrewdly notes, that there is a difference between the realism of the photography here and the painting style with some similarities. For me, there is not enough in these images to provide much interest or hold my attention. I also consider them too easy to do. They are the kind of photography that serves photographers well as exercises to sharpen their eye and improve their graphic instincts, like Czerny for photographers. Even the work of Siskin, who earlier was quite noted for his largely close-up graphic black and whites received negative criticism for the repetativeness of such work. The less there is content and inference, the more powerful the visual impact must be. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
