I have read other novels by author Zena Wynn but Love’s Challenges: The Nina Chronicles Book Two stood out for me because it is filled with so much heartfelt emotion. I connected with Nina’s character and sympathized with her plight of being afraid of making another poor choice and getting her heart broken again. Another aspect I enjoyed is how Nina’s character is further brought to life through the readers having access to her thoughts which sometime clash with her actions. This inner conflict is also something readers can empathize with and relate to. The use of everyday language and domestic situations gives this novel an authenticity that is truly refreshing. The tidbits of information Nina relates in lessons from her mother was amusing. For example, don’t start a relationship with any behavior you didn’t intend to continue because a person needs to get to know the real you. Nina lives her life very openly and Roberto could see the real woman from day one. This novel is a fast read and a great read. I can’t wait for the next installation of Nina’s story.

Love’s Challenges: The Nina Chronicles Book Two is an interracial romance featuring an African-American woman, Nina and her love interest Robert Ortego, who is of Spanish decent. Nina Wallace is finally ready to let go of her emotional baggage and let Roberto Ortego in because she believes she is ready to love again. Roberto Ortego has been observing Nina for years and although he has made his intentions clear, she has never given him a chance until now. However as a deeply spiritual woman, Nina only lets Roberto in by degrees as she waits for a sign that Roberto is meant for her. Roberto Ortego is a gentleman, he works hard, goes to church, he’s a good father, her kids love him and he is respected by peers and associates alike. If these are not good signs then Nina clearly is not paying attention. When her old flame says he’s reformed and wants a second chance, Nina is torn between old feelings and new ones she’s developing for Roberto. Nina has to make a choice but Roberto is confident she will make the right one.
