I loved Mr. Dolan's other books, Hungry Ghosts, Everyone Burns, & the short story, Jim Fosse's Expense Claim. A Poison Tree beautifully weaves an engaging story which tells the background of those books, something I'm not sure I've ever seen done in fiction. One has a far better understanding of the relationships of Claire, her sister, and David. And I have to admit, I loved having Jim Fosse back.

This author can be read on so many levels, all of them excellent. Plot, characters, setting, writing. What's not to like? His books are a feast for hungry readers and this one doesn't disappoint in the least. I'd read his books just to experience his rich vocabulary and intelligence. It makes for some of the best reading around. Congratulations, Mr. Dolan. I can't recommend this book highly enough! Readers, you're in for a treat! ( )
