Right away Orimae was a remarkably written children's story. The poetry of the story, as well as the illustrations brought the farm yard characters to life. I literally laughed out loud, especially when Calamity Duck stated that she found a rabbit's foot, only to discover it was still attached to the Rabbit.

Though it was a children's book, the humor and light-heartedness of the story made it a joy to read it as an adult. ( )

DEDICATION
*To Amy, who shall always live on in our hearts and in her children.
Amy and I grew close in the third grade. Even then her spirit was soft spoken and her soul kind. Her personality was bright as sunshine and her presence warmed hearts. It was impossible not to love her.
Not long after our college years, Amy was called to duty. She became a soldier in the War on Breast Cancer.

Someone so young, so lovely, so giving and kind must stop everything and fight the Cancer Monster. A young wife and mother with a new career has been chosen.
Hearts broke as her battle began. Pride, hope and admiration grew as she fought not only a few months....but for many years.

Today, I draw from her strength and courage as I now fight colon cancer. I awake everyday with Amy on my mind.Ultimately, she lost the battle, but her voice lives within me. I hear her gently encouraging me with her kind words.

This time, she does not fight for herself, but for everyone she touched. She fights alongside me so that I may live. I am positive she helps and inspires others as they fight too. She holds my hand and prays with me. Amy is my hero.

*Also, To my future grandchildren. I pray to live to see each and every one. However, if cancer should win the war, I leave this book to you. Whether here or in heaven, my spirit will always be with you. I will be your guardian angel. Come to me any time you want. My love for you is never-ending and shall live on in this world and on to the heavenly one.
