A really lovely earthy - waldorf like book. Very detailed illustrations and a really sweet story. ( )

The Paper Princess Finds Her Way is a story told by a paper princess. She tells of how she was so loved and cherished by her creator and owner, a young girl, who played with her and took her everywhere and made her new dresses and crowns. However, the paper princess couldn't understand why the young girl started playing with her less and less and eventually not at all. The princess got advice from the little girls dog and said she has grown up and the princess asked the dog to take her outside so she could fly away. Once she flew away the paper princess went on many adventures and endured extreme weather conditions. After she had endured a hard winter and had frozen to sleep and woke in the spring, some beautiful butterflies came and wisked her away with them to the 'warm' country. Once at the warm country the princess was found by another young girl, who played with her and made her new dresses and crowns and the princess was so happy again.

This book reminds me of the movie Toy Story! It reminds me of how when I was a kid some of my favorite toys I just became to big to play with anymore and I packed them away! It is rather sad if you think of it, if the toys could really talk and let you know how they were feeling, they must be feeling sad and lonely!

A classroom extension I would use would be for the kids to write a story about their favorite toy that they have outgrown and why they feel they have outgrown this toy. Another I would use would be to discuss they way certain animals are during the different seasons of the year.
