As with the previous two books in this series the author opens with grisly murder that grabs your attention and then rolls into introducing us to the main characters, who we’ve met in the previous Midnight Sacrifice, and keeps your interest until the shocking conclusion. The Celtic theme was alive and well in this third book but with a little different twist this time. A history museum is the backdrop with Curator Dr. Louisa Hancock baffled by the disappearance of two of her interns. In her quest to getting answers she reconnects with Connor Sullivan. Louisa and Conner have a bit of a history from the previous book. The author gives enough of a back story if you haven’t read the previous books you wouldn’t be lost but I recommend reading the other books in the series as each one has had one of the Sullivan siblings as one of the major characters. Conner and Louisa end up in the middle of the investigation when the first girl turns up dead and Conner becomes the main suspect. It was refreshing that most of the angst in the book was from the suspense part and not the romance part. Conner and Louisa both have baggage from their past but they had such chemistry and decided to take things slow that it felt more realistic. There was also plenty of supporting characters, some you really liked and others not so much. I love trying to figure out who the killer is and this time I didn’t do a very good job. That’s a major plus in my book : ). This story enraptures from beginning to end and I recommend it to romantic suspense lovers. Doctor Louisa Hancock thought that she had left her problems behind in Maine when she moved to Philadelphia but it looks like someone is killing young interns at this museum too. When another intern goes missing and Conor Sullivan is implicated, Louisa knows he didn't do it. They had met in Maine but it was a "wrong time, wrong place" relationship. Now that they are together in Philadelphia, it is the right time but being involved in a murder investigation isn't an ideal time to start a romance. Both Louisa and Conor are wary of romance because of incidents in their past. Trust and open communication doesn't come easy to either of them. I did like watching love overcome their problems. The mystery was well-done with lots of possible suspects for me to ponder. The chapters from the villain's point of view were quite chilling. The story had lots of suspenseful scenes and some quite humorous ones too. I was a big fan of Conor's tough exterior and marshmallow interior. His need to help those who are helpless - from the college girl with the drunken boyfriend to the pit bull that had been abused - really showed his character. The abused dog and the problems surrounding her added depth and more danger to the story. This was a great romance and wonderful thriller too. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

This third book in the series is as much fun as the others. It is sometimes hard to buy these older people being so bad at relationships, but I really enjoyed the mystery and there is an adorable dog in the story. We also get to catch up with the Sullivans from the first two books, that was fun. That was all the single Sullivans but I have heard there is another book coming. I would enjoy another visit with this family. ( )
