Evaluation/Argument: I thought this was a good book and really demonstrated a child's imagination at work. The little girl was using her imagination and pretending what could be outside of her tent such as a giant or the pirates at the end of the story. The rhyming words throughout the book gave it a nice flow and helped move the book along. For example, the author wrote "We whoop and we jump, into the tent we tumble and bump" (White, 2012, p.3). The words jump and bump rhyme, as well as other words throughout the following pages. A lot of children use their imagination when they are scared of the dark so children can find themselves relating to the characters in the book.
The central message of this book is to use your imagination to have fun, but not to be scared of anything. You should be able to explore things using your imagination in different ways. Being scared of things though can you hold you back in life in any situation. ( )
