"A born flirt and good-time party girl, Emerson has never had a problem finding a willing guy. She's always chosen her hook-ups carefully, and she's never broken her three cardinal rules: - Never let them see the real you. - Never fall in love. - Always leave them begging for more. Then comes Ethan. A hotty from the wrong side of the tracks, he's immune to her flirtatious banter and come-hither smile. After rescuing her from a disastrous night at a biker bar, he doesn't even try to take her to bed--he calls her a tease and sends her home instead. Unable to resist a challenge, or forget the sexy dark-eyed bad-boy biker, she vows to bring him to his knees. But instead of making Ethan beg, she finds herself craving him. For the first time in her life, she's throwing out her rulebook. Suddenly, she's the one panting for a guy she can't control. A guy who won't settle for anything less than the real Emerson, who forces her to do things she's never imagined, including facing a past she thought she'd buried. A guy who just might leave her wanting more . . "--… (altro)

This book was a tough sell. Emerson isn't a very likeable character and Shaw was kind of vague. He kept being described as "biker boy" as if that was self explanatory. I didn't get him. And, as often in the NA genre, the families behind these college students are WAAAY out there. I don't want to spoil the reveal, but Emerson's family is not just unsupportive or uninvolved -- they actively ignore what's right under their noses (I guess that is what enables some stupid plot moments).I wish the trauma back stories could show a little more restraint, in general. That said, Jordan is a good writer overall- with a sense of character development and dialogue. ( )

Oh how I love Emerson. I would crack up when reading Foreplay at how she would push Pepper to her limits.

Emerson tries to hide her hurt and pain from before with a carefree attitude. If you met her you would think she was a spoiled princess. That statement couldn’t be more untrue. She doesn’t have a close relationship with either of her parents. They only check on her when it conveniences them. My heart breaks thinking how awful she must feel about that. That all changes when she meets Shaw. He’s completely yummy, and so much more than what meets the eye. He pushes her boundaries, and doesn’t back down. I think it’s funny how her comfort zone is pushed the way she did with Pepper.

I loved the pacing. Just when you think you’ve got a grip on Emerson’s life your entire thought process is flipped over. We get a few sexy scenes, which I loved. Emerson does a great job of making others think she is flirty and ambitious. I loved the tension between Emerson and Shaw. They are able to go back and forth with each other verbally, and I love the jabs they both make. We also get a look into Emerson’s secrets. I won’t say what it is, but it’s frightening.

I highly recommend this series. It’s fun, flirty, and handles issues well. ( )

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Tease was full of amazing characters, hot romance, and crazy drama. It was an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish that I didn’t want to end. This is a must read for all new adult contemporary romance fans!

Opening Sentence: “Are you sure this is the place?”

The Review:

Emerson knows how to have a good time and she’s not afraid to flirt. She likes to hook up with guys, but she has never been in a relationship, and she doesn’t plan to change that anytime soon. She is picky when it comes to the guys she chooses to hookup with and her motto is to always leave them wanting more. This method was working great until the day she met Shaw, a bad boy biker that is too sexy for his own good.

Instead of falling for her flirtatious teasing he is a total gentleman that doesn’t try to get in her pants. After saving her from a bad situation at a biker bar he takes her home without even trying to kiss her. Emerson has never been the type to step down from a challenge, even one as dangerous as Shaw. She vows to make him want her just like all her other conquests, but soon she realizes that she is way out of her league with him. He actually wants to get to know the real her and all the secrets she has kept hidden from everyone. Can she finally open up and take a chance at love, or will she runaway like she always has in the past?

Emerson was a very easy character to love. Growing up she came from parents that cared more about themselves then they did about her, which resulted in her being very insecure when it comes to relationships. She likes to party and hook up with guys but she doesn’t do relationships. As you get to know her you realize that her insecurities seed from some bad experiences in her past, but she uses that as an excuse to push people away. She is so broken, but once the right person comes along she finally has a reason to open up. My heart ached for Emerson and what she went through, which really helped me develop a strong emotional connection with her. I loved being inside her head and I am glad I was able to read her story.

I loved Shaw, he was seriously a very sexy man. Not only does he have a gorgeous body and a beautiful face, he also is a retired Marine which I think is totally sexy. He is extremely confidant and he has that bad boy air about him. He is a persistent person and doesn’t give up easily, especially when it comes to something he wants. And what he currently wants is Emerson. No matter how hard she pushes him away he doesn’t stop trying to win her affections by whatever means necessary! Obviously they have crazy hot chemistry and the pages just ooze with sexy times! I have had the pleasure of reading all three books in the Ivy Chronicles series and for me Shaw was my favorite out of the three guys!

Tease was an emotional ride that I didn’t want to end. From the moment the story started you are thrown into crazy drama laced with hot sexual tension. While the plot is fairly predictable there were a few twists that took me by surprise. The pacing was flawless and I pretty much blew right through the entire book in one sitting. Jordan does an amazing job creating characters that you can root for and fall in love with. This is a companion novel to Foreplay and lucky for us you get to see some of your favorite characters, but you also get to meet lots of new ones. The romance developed beautifully and felt very realistic. Of the three books in the series, I would have to say that this one was my favorite but all of them are phenomenal and I would highly recommend all of them to new adult contemporary romance fans!

Notable Scene:

It took precisely five seconds upon waking to realize that I was naked. Well. Mostly. I was wearing my panties and bra. My gaze shot around the room, and my next thought to chug through my mind was even more alarming. Where the hell was I?

The bed was big and comfortable. A contrast to my single bed back in the dorm. Not as big as the California king I had back home, but I spent so little time there that this bed felt vast and beyond strange to me. It smelled good, too. Like soap and freshly laundered sheets.

I racked my brain for memories of the night before. Not too difficult. I wasn’t so drunk that I couldn’t remember. I recalled perfectly Annie ditching me. And I remembered Shaw.

FTC Advisory: William Morrow/Harper Collins provided me with a copy of Tease. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review. ( )

This book falls into the “New Adult” category. It features a gorgeous college-aged protagonist who dresses slutty, drinks too much, and dances provocatively with total strangers, while simultaneously maintaining she can take care of herself and knows how to control herself. Of course she is nearly raped. But she is rescued by a Seemingly-Bad-But-Actually-Good hot guy who wants her.

Emerson wasn't trying to get raped; she is just a "tease." She claims: "…I never lost control. I just made it look like I did - hooking up with different guys every week - but I was always fully cognizant of my actions.” At the same time, “The only thing that made me feel any better was slamming back a few shots and wrapping myself around a guy who knew what to do with his lips - and it wasn’t talk.”

Good-but-bad Shaw respects Emerson, and treats her well. But he *does* want her, and she can't resist him. So Emerson stops being just a "tease" and we the readers join Shaw and Emerson for lots of hot sex scenes. ( )
