An ex-SEAL has become a minister of a small church, only to be haunted by demons living inside the church. He believes that he has been chosen by God to start a defense system against Satan himself. Gabriel, the archangel, gives him a flaming sword to aid him in his resistance against evil. The plot sounds amazing, but I have to be honest and say I was quite disappointed with how the book turned out, I thought it would arouse more thoughts into the depths of religion and the military. Of course, the demons he fights as a minister represent the demons he fought on the battle fields during his time in the military, but other than that, there wasn't much depth to the book. I am not particularly interested in books about religion, so I had thoughts to how the book was going to go. And I'm really not interested in books that go against the bible, because I do have my beliefs on God, and it seemed this book contradicted a lot of scripture. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I have to say, I was quite disappointed with the book overall. The over the top religiosity soured the storyline, turning it into more of a twisted parable read by a 10-year-old than a thought provoking novel. Right here I will stop and say that some people apparently truly loved the book. To each their own. Personally, I found the book preachy, sanctimonious, and a hard slog through deep and muddy waters.
The novel The Grace Painter by the same author was much better if you want to enjoy a good novel. In the case of Battle Scream I would only recommend it to those who are so deeply involved in Christianity that they are looking more for a morality tale than a well-written novel.
I received this book from the publisher in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
