As a middle school teacher (6th grade), I found this book to be a great end-of-summer reminder to foster the growth mindset within my classroom. It gave helpful hints and tips on how to effectuate this classroom culture for maximum results. In our current culture of handing out participation trophies, I have seen too many children who are unwilling to struggle, who give up at the first sign of resistance/difficulty. I will utilize this growth mindset in my classroom to set reasonable and realistic expectations for each individual, to create a safe space where making mistakes is not failing, but failing to try is. I speak to my students often about how each brain in the room works differently and that we can help each other see things in different ways, so that we may all learn and grow. I think this book does a good job of laying out the basics of the idea of neural plasticity, and how important attitude can be when considering education. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Meh. I don't feel like I got anything more out of this book than I did out of the two-hour PD about "growth mindset" last year. The real audience for this should be the parents, who don't want growth and grit - they want A's and a Harvard acceptance.Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. As a special education teacher, I appreciate the information in this text. Not only does it give me great ideas and activities to do in the classroom, it helped me reflect on my own beliefs and practices. In general, I feel like I have a growth mindset and am very familiar with Dweck's work; however, I lack resources and ideas to explicitly teach this to students. I will use many of the ideas presented in the text to support my students. Thanks! Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing Early Reviewers for a review. As a teacher, I found that this book was a great introduction to Growth Mindsets and I thought that it would be a good tool to use for staff development. Ricci lays out the steps that schools can take to develop a growth mindset model in their schools, with students, staff, and parents. This is definitely a book that I will keep and refer back to often! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
