Sometimes, even the best-laid plans can unravel. It's spring break, and Tamara Winters would rather stay on campus and read romance novels than flaunt her size-fourteen body on a beach. But her best friend, Ronni, has other ideas. Against her wishes, Tamara is whisked away to picturesque Maverick Bay, where she's wrangled into waiting tables with Ronni at the Shore Shack for its busy week leading to Maverick's Surf Invitational. There she meets fellow schoolmate Xavier Solomon, the Invitational's organizer and campus womanizer by reputation. From the moment Tamara sees him emerging from the waves like a hero in of one of her romance novels, all she wants to do is run away from the feelings he inspires in her. Little does she know Xavier has been watching her for weeks now. In fact, after failed attempts at asking her out on campus, he's concocted a crazy plan: fabricating romantic situations straight out of her favorite books. Xavier quickly realizes that if Tamara gets a whiff of his designs, he might as well spell CREEPER across his forehead. Yet as they grow closer, he's convinced it's a risk worth taking. What he hasn't planned on, of course, is his drug-addicted, alcoholic stepbrother, who decides to join the fun and put a wrench in Xavier's scheme. Spring break is proving hotter than Tamara expected. Will her romance novels be able to compete?… (altro)

Why do I keep trying to read young/new adult novels??? I know I don’t like them, even if they cater to my favored tropes. I picked this up for the plus-sized heroine, but her size wasn’t relevant to the plot. My takeaways: Ronni is an idiot, Tamara is emotionally trapped in her pre-teens, Zander was a stereotype, Xavier is not a person who actually exists - stunningly gorgeous rich men just DO NOT become so enamored with plus-sized geeks that they orchestrate an elaborate lot to sweep them off their feet. Speaking of, while obviously dishonesty is bad, the idea that Tamara was “betrayed” by his romantic gestures is silly. Her reaction was as absurd as it was immature.

I only have myself to blame, hopefully I have learned my lesson this time - STOP PICKING UP YA/NA ( )

Entertaining College Age story. Xavier's efforts to court Tamara are both endearing and foiled. He masterminds a plan to get her attention during Spring Break and the plan backfires. He is a surfer jock, with a twist...not only is he handsome but also responsible and caring. At first he cannot understand why Tamara will not even give him the time of day. He is not used to being ignored by girls. She presents a challenge he is more than willing to beat. This is a lovely Summer story! ( )

Bound by grief over devastating loss, Tammi gets lost in books to help her retreat from the pain life offers her. Xavier see her and as she continuously turns him away, he becomes intrigued and finds a way (albeit freaky and incredibly romantic at the same time) to have her get to know him.

What isn’t known is the pain and burdens that Xavier has as well. Xavier will have you fall in love with him over his odd antics. he is a strong, handsome guy who is easy going and is burdened with more responsibility than he can handle. His brother Zander is his biggest responsibility and his guilt there is palpable. More than it should be. Everything he does to get to know Tammi will pull at your heartstrings as you watch him and his friends get her to loosen up and see the sweet man behind the smile. A genuine guy who just wants to love her.

Tammi has some self confidence issues when it comes to anyone thinking she is worthy of their looks and love. Devastating loss has caused her to retreat from life, so much so that people who care for her go to great lengths to get her out of the life of books and get her to live life itself. As she sees the love around her and that she is desired, she begins to open up .

Unfortunately the arrogant yet very troubled Zander comes in to the picture. The dude is enough to have you wanting to pull him in for a hug and smack sense into him at the same time while pulling your hair out from his annoying ways;

Hudson, sweet sweet Hudson, is like a father figure for everyone. The steady friend that is there for support for all of them. His protective nature is so precious to see as is Xavier’s.

A refreshing book that shows the lengths people go to to help those come back from devastating loss and also what one will do to help those they love. A fun sweet sexy story that will pull at your heart and smiling. ( )

Romancing the Bookworm was absolutely delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When Tamara's friend Ronni dragged her to Maverick Bay for spring break, little did she know what would be in store for her there. She would much rather live in her world of books where she could escape everything and everyone, rather than deal with the real world. Nevertheless, she gives in and agrees to go with her perfect size 2 best friend. The last thing she expected was to find herself in a whirlwind relationship with the uber hottie surfer god, Xavier Solomon, and little did she know this was all part of Xavier's plan. Whether "the plan" helps or hurts Xavier's cause remains to be seen. She soon finds Xavier her mind and senses far more that any hero she has read about in her novels. When Xavier's brother Zander shows up on the scene, it really throws a wrench into things, but sometimes things need to get a little off course to help you see how you really feel.

I loved the premise of Romancing the Bookworm. Kate Evangelista couldn't have written a more entertaining and fun summer read, especially for those of us who are book fans, like Tamara. I really loved Tamara. She wasn't perfect, but I so admired the fact that she was comfortable with herself, and her size. I also liked that Xavier, the hottie that he was, didn't fall into the mold of only liking girls who were bean poles with boobs, and despite everything he screws up, he does truly have the best intentions, so I couldn't help but root for him. Ronni and her brother Hudson were great secondary characters also, and I was even happy to see where things went with Zander in the end. The romance was sweet and steamy, but also had some serious moments, and there was plenty of humor to boot. Overall, Romancing the Bookworm is totally enjoyable, lighthearted, and fun, and if you are looking for the perfect read for the summer, then this is one book you should definitely pick up. ( )

Wow Amazing book! Kate totally rocked it with this romantic story I couldn't put it down! the characters where witty and charming and more then once I found myself laughing out loud to their antics and comments. I was immediately pulled into the story and from the first page and loved every minute spent with the characters.

Tamara Winters loves nothing but curling up with a good steaming romance novel, why? because real life is just to hard some times and after the death of her mother Tamara just finds life in a book so much simpler. That is until her crazy friend Ronnie decides to kidnap her and drag her to Maverick Bay for spring break, where she will be waiting tables at Ronnies brothers Snack Shack.As Tamara contemplates the disparaging summer ahead of her out of the water walks the most gorgeous and dreamy man she has ever laid eyes on outside of a book!

Xavier Solomon is anything but perfect but he has concocted the perfect plan to get the beautiful and stubborn Tamara Winters to Maverick Bay. After all his plans on Campus to get her to notice him have failed he just knows that the Solomon Invitational Surfing competition and all its amazing events are sure to get her to notice him. What he wasn't planning on however was his past and his brother getting in the way. will he ever get a chance to show Tamara what he is really made of?

I loved this book! I loved each and every one of its characters and I especially have a big old soft spot for Tamara! she was shy but at the same time could still give you what for if needed and she loved herself for who she was. I loved that she always had her nose in a book she reminded me of me that way...lol....as I too read way too many books and sometimes it takes me away from other things.

Kate you did a wonderful job on this book and I commend you for it! it was amazing, honest and heartwarming. It made me laugh, cry and laugh and cry again...lol...I loved every page! Brilliant work Kate! A must read for all you summer sizzler readers out there! for there are some steamy scenes in this one...lol ( )
