I t's a simple story .you can finish it even in two minutes, but i ts's just this two minutes that will bring you deep thougts and moving.stories of loyal dogs are everywhere, but every time when I read them, I was touched by all those great and sweet dogs Ruth Brown's book is based on the romantic tale of Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh for spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner, John Gray (Old Jock). Greyfriars Bobby died on 14 January 1872. A year after his death, Lady Burdett-Coutts had a statue and fountain erected at the southern end of the George IV Bridge to commemorate him. Brown's retelling focuses on two modern day children discovering the fountain which has a place for both people and dogs to drink, reading the inscription and following the story to the Grey Friar's graveyard. Here a gardener recounts Bobby's tale. A sympathetically illustrated sweet story, and one that hopefully does has a grain of truth as it's basis. #44, 2007 This is a beautifully illustrated book telling the story of Greyfriars Bobby, the little dog who is said to have stayed by his master's grave for 14 years. I'm not sure the story is entirely true, but it is a much-beloved tale. This is a nice re-telling, and some of the illustrations made me really homesick for Edinburgh. Greyfriars is a beautiful cemetary. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
