When Jason Smith wins a contest he doesn't remember entering, he earns a visit with The MeatGrinder, aka Trent Peterson. Trent expected a rabid fan; instead, he gets Jason, who knows nothing about wrestling, doesn't care about the prizes, and would prefer to skip the official wrestling demo, please. Trent should be annoyed, but by the end of the day, Trent knows he wants more than one day with Jason. Now he just has to convince Jason that Trent is more than his alter ego.… (altro)

This is a hilariously funny story, told with a wonderfully, almost sarcastic sense of humor. Both characters have enough quirks to keep me wondering how they could possibly get along, yet somehow they seem to fit. Even the way their relationship starts is funny: it's all due to a contest. Contests are fun, but winning is even more enjoyable, and for someone who has never won anything, being awarded their first big prize should be a major event.

Not so for Jason. He is a major contest-enterer, to the point where he sounds addicted, and he absolutely loves winning, but when he is told he's won a day with MeatGrinder, a professional wrestler, he can't even remember having entered the contest. Of course, wanting to make sure he gets what he deserves, after entering and not winning about a million previous contests, he goes to collect his prize. But, different from what he makes himself believe, it isn't really the winning that has him hooked, it's discovering that the famous MeatGrinder is his college crush. And Jason just cannot resist the temptation to see Trent again now that he's lost his shyness.

Trent doesn't quite know what to do with Jason at first. He expected a true fan (who else would even enter the competition, right?), but what he gets is Jason who seems to have no clue abut wrestling. Mercilessly, Trent makes Jason go through all the prizes even though Jason clearly cares more about Trent than any of the autographed items.

What ensues is a day of fun, mutual teasing, and pseudo-wrestling. The passion between Jason and Trent runs high, and I loved all the different things they get up to. If you like fun stories that will make you laugh, if you don't take your pro-wrestling too seriously, and if you're looking for a read that is both entertaining and sweet, then you will probably like this short story.

4.5 stars. I loved this story. It was short, cute and hysterical! At first, I wasn't sure if it was unintentionally funny, but as I kept reading and kept laughing out loud (at work I might add), I decided it had to be intentional.
