This book was written by a grandmother for and about her grandchildren. It's a sweet book, but I'm not sure it's one that deserves to be published and shared with the world. As a grandmother's gift to her grandchildren, it's just fine. However, when I tried to read it to my son, he didn't make it past the third page.

I also asked my husband to read it and his comment was "terrible story. Why didn't they teach the kid to call the fire department?" (In the story, Seamus' little sister falls in a well and his parents send him down to save her.)

The artwork, also done by the author, is pretty simplistic - paper and felt pieces cut out and arranged to illustrate the different characters in the book.

All in all, I'd say this book isn't terrible, but neither is it remarkable. There are many brilliant children's books out there - this simply isn't one of them.
