Such a CUTE book. Intensive colors, great graphics, funny little tidbits, it covers every pet to every hero and villain. Kids who love DC should love this book. Filled with pictures and trivia, although not too much in depth information (a lot of these don't have much of a backstory...) They also have separate pages for the different leagues these pets make up. Recommended. ( )

As someone who loves superheroes and animals I knew I had to check out this book. I may not be as informed as some comic lovers but I find myself fairly knowledgeable. Either way, I gave this book a read and while it’s not geared to my age group I did enjoy it.

I’m not entirely sure but I believe this guide is geared towards fans of the Tiny Titans comic book series. That series itself is light hearted with its adorably drawn style and cute jokes. Some of the jokes are even fun little throw backs to their normal canons.

That said this book covers the pets of these super heroes and super villains. Honestly I wasn’t aware there were that many. Granted I know some of the more obscure ones ( Do I get points for knowing Wonder Woman had a kangaroo like animal named Jumpa?) but there are still a lot more super pets then I expected.

My expectations aside besides the adorable art style I like how the information is set up. The set up includes a main picture of the character with some attributes pointed out about the character. Most times there will be stats though for some stats can be shorter. Most likely because the characters in question didn’t have as much information in comics background.

Some of the pets made me laugh. Not for the sheer ridiculousness of some of the pets but rather from the naming or themes. Granted children aren’t going to get the joke about Raven’s pet being named Lenore but it’s still funny. And I had a good chuckle at Thud’s entry by the way. It was amusing.

DC SUPERPETS ARE, WELL…. SUPER!
Edit

I was lucky to snag a copy of DC SuperPets to review… naturally in exchange for an HONEST review. Not the usual fare for my Kindle, and I believe this is actually going to be a print book coming out in September (?) 2013, but I was able to pull the efile with good ole Adobe Digital Editions (http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions.html) and read it on my computer. Little Dude is LOVING it! I’m actually surprised he let me have my computer back in order for me to WRITE this review! Moms (& closet comic book fans), keep an eye out for this book – it’ll be well worth any purchase price!

Things I loved about it:

Bright, colorful, engaging colors throughout the whole book
The cartoon characters have a new “twist” to their look – not the same ole, same ole – but so darn close that you know immediately who they are
Each page offers a joke… and trust me, you will hear them repeated back to you over & over & over & over…!
The contents page itself is awesome — with the age range of the book geared toward the 6-8 year old bracket, you’re looking at beginner readers… and the contents page is simply a headshot of the SuperPet with the page number underneath it. I’ve found it to be great because some of the names are beyond Little Dude’s reading skills, but he can open to the front, find the SuperPet he wants to know about, and then find the page himself. Gives him a bit more “ownership” of the reading process & helps to increase his self-confidence (super idea, DC Comics – Moms everywhere applaud you!!).
Each page actually looks like a trading card – well suited to this generation! The bottom shows headshots of “Allies” and “Foes” (which means the child can then follow along by looking at the aforementioned index). There are “stats” listed for each SuperPet. There is also a full-length “picture” of the SuperHero that is affiliated with the SuperPet.
Not only are the SuperPets featured, but there are entries for the VILLAINS, too!
At the end of each section, there is a “Size Chart” with all the SuperPets / Villains so you can see how they stack up against each other.

I really didn’t find anything about this book that bothered me. I think it is a great addition to the DC Comics “Reader” line-up – and I’ve already promised Little Dude that when it releases, we will purchase it in hard print so that he can take it with him at night for bedtime reading! ( )
