Kids interested in what the future holds for aeronautics will enjoy reading this account of the 100 Year Starship. The initiative began with a call for ideas from DARPA in 2011, who awarded funds in 2012 to Dr. Mae Jemison's team. Her group will use the money to start 100YSS. The goal is to work over the next 100 years to make human travel to other stars possible. While more of the book is devoted to the history of exploration up to this point, space afficianados will appreciate the attention given to some of the details that the group must consider as they take the first steps to make this a reality. Co-written by Dr. Mae Jemison and Dana Meachen Rau, the tone is conversational and engaging with plenty of photos. A solid addition to STEM collections.
