Thriller Cold Snap is the seventh book in the Lucy Kincaid series. Lucy is a new FBI agent on her way to her new location by way of a family Christmas celebration. What a great addition to the series, this book is a trilogy of three novellas that gives an update on the Kincaid family as they solve three different mysteries. Patrick gets roped into checking on the daughter of his mother’s best friend. Elle Santana is protecting a young girl with information on a local drug dealer by putting herself in danger. I’m not a big Elle fan. She has some TSTL moments that made me a little angry. I love Patrick. He is a great character. Patrick is coming to terms with his past, accepting Lucy and Sean’s relationship, and still showing his big, kind heart. What a great character! Lucy is traveling with Sean, Dillon, and Kate. Let’s face it Lucy and Sean can’t go on a vacation without finding a body. This second part of the book has the group in Denver in a blizzard. They have a room in a five-star hotel, but the bodies are dropping like flies. In some ways, this section gives a little comic relief to the darker crimes. It also shows how in sync this group is. They know their strengths and use them without stepping on each other’s toes. I love it. Finally, the group arrive home to San Diego only to find out that the head of Kincaid clan, the Colonel had a heart attack. The Kincaid’s and company pull together aid Carina’s when she is kidnapped by a man on a mission to avenge the death of his sister. We see the intensity of the Kincaid’s in their law enforcement capacity, and the love for each other. A great glimpse into where everyone is at this point in the series. Good characters! Good mysteries! A Good reunion! As much as I usually like Allison Brennan's books, I didn't enjoy this one as much. The book is divided into three separate novellas, rather than a cohesive story. Unfortunately, the story lines are very similar to previous books. Patrick Kincaid, former police officer now a private investigator has been asked by his mom to check in on an old family friend. Elle is the little sister of Patrick's former high school sweetheart and daughter of Patrick's mom's best friend. She is a pro bono attorney who is looking for a 15 year old runaway that she took into her care as well as trying to take down a wealthy businessman who also happens to be a drug dealer. She has no plan for doing either of these tasks and refuses to take advice from Patrick, the professional. Hello! get the idea? The character of Elle and the things she did were worse than irresponsible, they were down right unbelievable. After awhile the story just went flat. Not Allison Brennan's usual great story. Sorry Allison...2 stars. In Brennan’s mystery thriller, P.I. Patrick Kincaid goes to check on a family friend who has been unreachable. En route, he is shot at and before he can question attorney Ell Santana as to why she won’t assist in finding a missing girl, both are on the run to find a witness who’s testimony can help bring down a corrupt businessman. Newly sworn FBI agent Lucy Kincaid and her boyfriend Sean Rugan find themselves stranded in a blizzard with a dead body. In the meantime, Colonel Kincaid ends up in the hospital where a man with a vendetta is moving in. This Christmas, the Kincaid family will fight for a miracle to save them all. Fast, fierce and hard to put down. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
